Elliott Davis Contract Employees – Initial Configuration Instructions
I. Configuring MFA (multifactor authentication) on your mobile device
- Your login credentials should have been emailed via secure email. These credentials will be used for all Elliott Davis applications. Before starting, please verify possession of these credentials. Do not share these credentials with anyone.
Naming convention: firstname.lastname@elliottdavis.com
Use password provided in secure email
- On your computer, please browse to:
https://account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com/Proofup.aspx
- You will be prompted for an email address as shown below. Please use firstname.lastname@elliottdavis.com, and click “Next.”
- Enter the password provided in the secure email mentioned in step one (1), and click “Sign in” as shown:
- You may be presented with the screen below. Click “No” as shown:
- You may be presented with the screen below. Click “Next” as shown:
- Under “Step 1: How should we contact you?”, please select “Mobile app” from the dropdown menu, and click “Set up” as shown:

- Next, please download and install the Microsoft Authenticator App on your mobile device from either the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. Open your app store and search for "Microsoft Authenticator" and install the app. You can view the links below to make sure you are downloading the correct app.

- After downloading, you will be prompted to add an account. Choose “work or school account” and allow access to camera and allow all notifications if prompted.
- Scan the QR code generated from step seven (7) and click “Next” as shown.
- You may be prompted to “Approve” the sign in attempt. Click “Approve” if prompted.
- You may now have the option to click “Next” on the screen from step seven (7) as shown. After clicking “Next,” approve any prompts sent to your mobile device for confirmation.

- Congratulations! You have successfully configured your mobile device to accept login verifications from the Elliott Davis network.
- Please continue to section two (II) below.
II. Downloading and configuring the GlobalProtect VPN Client
- Browse to vpn.elliottdavis.com in a modern web browser such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.
- On the login screen, enter your Elliott Davis username and password as shown below:
- In the upper right-hand corner, there are three options. Click on “GlobalProtect Agent” to download the installer for the GlobalProtect VPN client as shown:
- Select the “Download Windows 64-bit GlobalProtect agent” from the list of files.

- Save the download to your local computer and open it, clicking through the install as shown below:

- After the install completes, you will now see the GlobalProtect icon in the bottom right-hand corner system tray, as shown below – it looks like a small, gray globe:
Note: you may need to click the “More” arrow to see the icon. It will look like a small, gray globe.
- Click the icon one time to see the program. Enter “vpn.elliottdavis.com” into the portal address bar.
- Click connect. When prompted, enter your username (firstname.lastname, NOT email address) and your password, then click “Sign In” as shown:

- After clicking “Sign In,” you will be prompted on your mobile device to approve the VPN login. Click “Approve” on your mobile device as shown:
Note: if you are not receiving prompts, please open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device and try again.
- You will now see the GlobalProtect “Connected” icon in the bottom-right system tray as shown:
*Note: if you do not see the globe in your bottom-right system tray, you may search for it using the “up arrow” as shown:
- You are now connected to the Elliott Davis VPN and can begin step three (III), connecting to the Elliott Davis Published Apps.
III. Connecting to the Elliott Davis Published Applications (where work will be performed)
*Note: you MUST have an active VPN connection back to the Elliott Davis network for the following steps to work as noted in section two (II) above.
- Access your control panel by opening your start menu and searching for “control” as shown below. Click on “Control Panel:”
- Make sure at the top right-hand corner, your icons are arranged by “large icons” as shown:
- These items are now arranged alphabetically. Look for “RemoteApp and Desktop Connections” and click it as shown:
- On the left-hand side, select “Access RemoteApp and desktops” as shown:
- Type in or copy and paste the following URL into the box as shown, then click next:

- You may receive the notification shown below. Click “Next” as shown:
- You may be prompted for credentials as shown below. You may provide your full Elliott Davis email address and password, then click “OK” as shown:
*Note: if your full Elliott Davis email address does not work for login, you may try ELLIOTTDAVIS\your Elliott Davis username (ex: ELLIOTTDAVIS\john.smith)
- If your connection is successful, you will be presented with a screen similar to the below. You may click finish as shown:

- Congratulations! You have successfully configured the Elliott Davis Published Applications.
- To begin work and access the Published Apps, please follow the first-time utilization instructions below in section four (IV).
IV. Using the Published Apps for the first time
- Access the published apps assigned to you via your start menu – find the ampersand (&) and click “ElliottDavis Published Apps” or similar to expand the folder as shown:
*Note: you MUST have an active VPN connection back to the Elliott Davis network for the following steps to work as noted in section two (II) above, and indicated by the icon below.
- Select “iChannel Chrome” as shown:

- You may be prompted for your credentials as shown. You may enter your computer password and full Elliott Davis email address if prompted, you may also check “remember me”:
- You may be asked if you wish to trust the publisher of the app – you may click “don’t ask me again” and “connect” as shown:
- Login to iChannel using your username and password. Please note your username is firstname.lastname, and your password will be the secure password you were provided. You may also check “sign me in automatically” as shown:
- After logging in, you may be prompted to save your credentials as shown below. This is personal preference and not required:
- Search for your client as normal and as instructed by your Elliott Davis contact. Upon opening a client file for the first time, you will be prompted to approve the addin below via pop-up. Please click “always allow” and “open” as shown:

- After your CaseWare file opens, you will be asked to identify yourself. If you have worked in the file previously, use your identity found in the dropdown below. If you have NOT worked in the file before, you may create a new identity by providing your name and initials.
- Pull down a sync copy of your file by selecting “work offline” in the bottom right-hand corner, immediately after opening, then choose to “work online” as shown below (if you do not complete this step and verify that your file is online, you could lose work!):
V. Connecting to Microsoft Teams on your local computer via web browser
Microsoft Teams will be the application used to chat and video call with stateside Elliott Davis employees, as well as fellow contracted employees. We recommend using the web version of Microsoft Teams on your local computer (not the Elliott Davis remote desktop) in order to leverage any built-in microphone, camera, and speakers on your computer.
- To access Microsoft Teams on your local computer, open a modern browser such as Google
Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Safari and browse to: https://teams.microsoft.com/
*Note: You may have to launch a “private” window if your organization also uses Microsoft Teams for internal communication.
- You may be prompted with the login screen OR a screen with your Elliott Davis email address pre-populated. In the case of the empty login screen, provide your Elliott Davis email address (firstname.lastname@elliottdavis.com), then click “Next”. In the case of the pre-populated email address, click on it to continue, also shown below.

- If prompted for your password, enter it as shown below, then click “Sign in”:

- You may receive a prompt to approve login on your mobile device OR an option to have a prompt sent to you – choose “Approve a request on my Microsoft Authenticator app,” installed in step one (I). Approve the request on your mobile device.

- You are now logged into the Microsoft Teams web app!

VI. How to contact Elliott Davis IT with questions
Elliott Davis IT is responsible for the core functionality of business applications such as Microsoft
Teams, CaseWare Working Papers, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, VPN, Remote Desktop Connections, etc. If there is an issue with the functionality of core business applications, please contact us via one of the methods listed below. Elliott Davis IT is not responsible for training on core business applications. Additionally, before submitting a ticket with Elliott Davis IT, please troubleshoot with your internal IT department.
